ITSRR aims to take a leading role in transport safety and encourage the cross-fertilisation of skills and ideas across transport modes. ITSRR's practices are based on the collection and analysis of current information and ongoing learning, having a strong technical and research capability, and making decisions based on evidence.
ITSRR aims to effectively communicate with its stakeholders on rail safety and transport reliability. Please find to below a list of links to a variety of information that ITSRR provides:
Executive Safety Seminars (as required)
ITSRR has developed a series of Executive Safety Seminars which are aimed at the senior management of accredited rail operators. The aim of the seminars is to promote safety and provide an opportunity for continuous education and networking for the rail industry of NSW. They are held free-of-charge.
Educational Workshops (as required)
To complement the Executive Safety Seminars, ITSRR also holds workshops aimed at the senior and middle management of the NSW rail industry on as needed basis.
Training (as required)
ITSRR occasionally releases training material to help operators train and inform their employees in the NSW rail industry. The training material may not be suitable for all accredited railway operators. Railway operators should ensure they develop and implement a program that is appropriate and satisfactory, having regard to the particular railway operations for which they are accredited and their obligations under the relevant legislation and Guidelines.
Regulator Newsletters (Quarterly)
The Regulator is a Quarterly Newsletter featuring recent events and pertinent safety news for the NSW rail industry.
Transport Advisory Weekly (Weekly)
Targeted at the rail industry, the Transport Advisory Weekly (TAW) is an on-line news portal of recent domestic and international developments in the transport industry.
Information Alerts (as required)
ITSRR also publishes Information Alerts which are a concise summary of recent regulatory developments which merit being brought to the attention of the NSW rail industry.
Waterfall Implementation Reports (Quarterly)
ITSRR continues to implement, verify and report upon the NSW Government's response to the recommendations contained within the Final Report of the Special Commission of Inquiry into the Waterfall accident. The recommendations relate to actions needed by RailCorp, emergency services agencies, ITSRR, the Office of Transport Safety Investigations and the rest of the rail industry of NSW. ITSRR provides quarterly reports to the Minister for Transport on the progress of implementation. The Minister tables the reports in the NSW Parliament.
Reliability Reports (as required)
ITSRR is required to publish annual safety and reliability reports. ITSRR also publishes reports that address reliability and safety issues. The Annual Transport Reliability Report for previous years is incorporated into ITSRR's Annual Report.
Fact Sheets (as required)
ITSRR also publishes Information Alerts which are a concise summary of recent regulatory developments which merit being brought to the attention of the NSW rail industry.
Regulatory Rail Guidelines (as required)
ITSRR acknowledges the complexity of the rail safety legislative framework and develops guidelines for certain issues to provide clarity and assist industry in meeting their compliance obligations.
