Accessibility Statement
Accessibility Statement
This statement relates to content available on the public web (HTML) pages on the Independent Transport Safety and Reliability Regulator (ITSRR) website (www.transportregulator.nsw.gov.au).
Accessible web design
This site has been developed to ensure that, as far as possible, its content is available to the widest possible audience, including visitors using assistive technologies.
This site adheres to all Priority 2 (AA) W3C WAI WCAG 1.0 guidelines and achieved Grade AA when tested by Watchfire’s “Bobby” application.
The site has been designed to enable sensible reading and navigation by screen readers and speech browsers, in particular up to date versions of JAWS, Window Eyes and IBM Home Page Reader.
Both in-page text and the website style sheets have been coded to facilitate browser-based accessibility features such as font enlargement, zoom and Windows accessibility features.
Users may access all links and form fields without the use of a mouse; in other words the site can be navigated using only the keys of a standard PC or Apple Mac keyboard.
Web pages are designed with a focus on usability and required user pathways. In particular, all primary navigation is presented at the top of the page. It is also repeated as text at the bottom of the page.
JavaScript should ideally only be used for “appearance” effects such as rollovers, or for effects that are invisible to the user such as browser detection. If it is used for dHTML menus, care should be taken to ensure that the navigation thus presented is also available by other means. If it is used for “pop-up” windows, an alternative should be devised for use by non-JavaScript users.
If “embedded” Flash is used, it will make use of the Flash MX accessibility option. An automatic detection mechanism is used to direct non-Flash users, or users with obsolete Flash versions, to an acceptable alternative. This may be an animated gif, a simple image or text on the page.
Problems with this site

Common accessibility questions
How do I convert PDF files into more accessible formats?
The Adobe website provides a service to convert PDF files to HTML or text, either by email submission or by using an online form. The service is available at the Online conversion tools for Adobe PDF documents page on the Adobe website.
The text is too small for me to read - how can I change it?
You can use the text decease and increase buttons at the top and bottom of each page on this website to change text size. Using these buttons might place a "cookie" on your computer. This "cookie" will remember the text size you choose but will not collect any private information. You may need to click the buttons twice to activate the text size change.
Alternatively, in Internet Explorer go to View > Text Size and select
Larger
or Largest.
In Firefox and Netscape go to View > Text Size and select Increase. In
