Rail Rules & Laws
Rail safety around Australia is carried out by each separate State and Territory. However, the States and Territories have entered an Inter-Governmental Agreement that requires the National Transport Commission (NTC) to develop reforms to improve and strengthen the co-regulatory system for rail safety in Australia.

Rail Safety Reform
NSW rail safety laws are changing as part of a national program to improve rail safety management and consistency across jurisdictions. A new Act, Regulations and supporting guidelines are being introduced in NSW in consultation with industry.
